The Aussie prides it self on its community support & sponsorship. This year we sponsored no less then 12 different types of codes of sport & we look forward to helping more teams, both junior & senior to another successful sporting year.

The staff & management donate to the Westpac Rescue through voluntary wage deductions & Hotelier Mick Starkey is a frequent participant in The NSW Varity Bash. This year seen Mick & the Swill n Grill team complete in their 4th consecutive Bash. To date with the help from our suppliers & loyal patrons we have been able to raise in excess of $70,000 for this worthwhile charity.

Sunday 2nd March seen the Battlers Social Golf club kick off their inaugural year with a win, after taking out the Challenge Trophy at The Oaks Golf course.

The Challenge has been a longstanding battle between the Centennial Hotel, Gulgong & the Australia Hotel Cessnock & this year the Battlers stepped in to do the Aussie hotels bidding.

Good weather & a strong turn out for both teams made for a great day of golf. Marcus Ryter & Don Mitchell were named best on the day for the Battlers, followed closely by Mick Jenness & Nathan Wright. The bodyline tactics of Michael Cleaves paid off with a runners up tag coming his & partner Swede’s way on handicap. The day was capped off with celebration drinks & presentations at the Aussie. A great day was had by all golfers & a big thanks to Battlers sponsors Kieran McMahon of Golf to the Max & The Australia Hotel.
